How to start plants from a seed

you need:
Soil, seeds of your choice, plastic containers. Small and big

1. Put a few seeds in a little container full of soil. Then put water in it
2. After about 2 weeks you will see a little seedlings growing.
3. Then easily take out the seedlings out of the little container and move it into the big container thats full of soil. and then water after planting

How to make a raise bed using logs

1. Cut an available limb into 1 foot sections
2. Dig a trench
6 inches deep, in the shape of your planter
3. Line up limbs sections vertically in trench to make a 6 inch wall
3. Fill in interior with soil and desired plants

Building a mini-greenhouse from a box

Materials: 2 waxed cardboard boxes of slightly different sizes, scissors, aluminum foil, 2 ft square piece of clear plastic, duct tape
steps:
1. Cut off 3 top flaps of the smaller box. Leave one to function as the hinge for the top.
2. Measure 4 inches down on the front of the box and cut a straight horizontal line across.
3. Cut the box so it has a diagonal slope to it
4. Line the back and and sides of the box interior with aluminum foil, securing with duct tape.
5. To make a cover, cut off one large side of the larger box, with the flap attached
6. cut a square out in the center of the large panel, making sure to leave at least a 2 inch border on each side
7. Using duct tape, attach the plastic to the open square
8. Place the cover on top of the sloping edge of the smaller box, lining up the hinges and fastening with tape

How to make a mosaic

First you need to draw out the picture you want for the mosaic.

1.  Get some tile of assorted colors
2.  Smash up some tile
3. Then put it all together to form a picture
4. Then put it on the cement board
5. Then paste the tile that you put together onto the cement board with some grout.
Then let it dry

Hydroponics Instructions

You will need: White PVC pipes, little black planting cages, 2-inch rockwool cubes, submersible pump with tubes, and rectangular plastic reservoir.

Step 1:  Fill reservoir with weak nutrient solution.  Water level should be high enough to cover the pump.

Step 2:  Dip rockwool cubes in nutrient solution, and place in planting cages.

Step 3:  Plant a vegetable seed of choice in each rockwool cube.

Step 4:  Plug in pump and make sure pipes fill up with water to level of their drain holes.

Step 5:  Refill reservoir with water every few days to make sure pump is always covered.

How to make a milk jug reservoir

Things you will need:
 milk carton
yogurt sized cup
scissors/knife
tape

1. First you need to cut the milk carton in half horizontally.
2. The top part of the milk carton then has to have at least 5 slits or small holes.
3. With the bottom half of the milk carton cut a hole about the size of a quarter an inch or two from the bottom, This is so the water can drain out.
4. After messing around with the milk carton take your yogurt cup and cut out the bottom of that out. When done you should have two open sides of the cup.
5. Next on opposite ends of the cup, cut a half circle out from the end.
6. Take the bottom of the milk carton and place the yogurt cup so that its place somewhat secure in the center, in the bottom of the carton. Place the top of the milk carton upside down in the bottom of the carton so that the hole at the top is down in the yogurt cup.
7. Next tape the carton pieces so there secure together then your ready for your planting.

How to build a Bamboo teepee

What you need:

  • 4 Bamboo sticks, all similar in size
  • Twine


1. Position the 4 upright bamboo sticks into a square base
2. Push the sticks in the ground, gathering all the sticks at the top and tying them together.
3. Wind a piece of twine around all 4 corners of your teepee, making a horizontal string row.
4. Repeat step 3 every 12 inches to create a trellis.

How to kill weeds with cardboard

1.Weed out all the weeds in your garden
2. Then place down tons of cardboard boxes, this makes it so no weeds will grow back
3. Then layout all the mulch and lay it down in an even layer, just walk on it, it makes it smooth and layered out right

How to make a Hoop House Row Cover


1. Cut PVC pipe into 5 foot lengths.
2. Use a sledge hammer to pound 2-foot rebar stakes into the ground. Position the stakes across from one another, one stake every 3 feet.
3. Bend the PVC pipe into a hoop and place the ends of the pipes over the rebar stakes.
5. Attach a long sheet of plastic to the row of hoops.

How to Make a Trellis

1. Find four sticks of equal size, preferably big sticks.
2. Take a long piece of string and wind it around the corners of two of the sticks, attaching them together at a right angle, tying a knot at the end. Repeat with the other two sticks.
3. Attach all four sticks to make a rectangle.
4. Then take a shorter piece of string and knot one end of the string to one side of the square. Stretch it all the way to the opposite side of the square and tie a second knot.  Repeat four more times, evenly spacing the strings across the square.
5. Repeat step 4 with the other two sides of the rectangle.
6. When finished. you should have a trellis which you can put plants against, and they will wrap around, giving them a healthy environment.

How to Make a Slug Trap

Things you will need:
2 liter bottle
Knife
6 cups of warm water
6 tablespoons of flour
3 teaspoon of sugar
1½ teaspoon of yeast

1. First you need to take your empty 2 liter bottle and cut a large square out on one side of it. The cut should be at least 2-3 inches from the bottom of the bottle and at least 3 inches wide. At this point, the first half of the slug trap is finished. The next step is to make the slug juice to put in the slug trap which is going to attract the slugs.
2. Measure 6 cups of water and mix with 6 Tablespoons of flour. Next add the 3 teaspoons of brown sugar and last the 1 1/2 teaspoons of yeast. Stir all these items together until mixed well.
3. Next take your slug trap and slug juice to the garden. Dig a hole where the slug trap is needed and place bottle down in dirt until the bottom of the cut on side of bottle is lined up with the soil. Once placed in firmly, pour slug juice in the slug trap:]
